Before

Brandy wanted the freedom to work from anywhere. She thought about becoming a virtual bookkeeper but felt terrified talking to clients.

Using Bookkeeper Launch

Brandy discovered how to connect with people and get them interested in hiring her before she ever got on a call with them.

After

Within 7 months, she had 5 clients paying her $60/hour. This allowed her to quit her 9-5 and fulfill her dream of living on a sailboat with her husband.

"I HATED GOING TO THE OFFICE EVERY DAY"

Brandy wasn’t happy at her job.

She didn’t like being locked into to a 9-5 schedule. Or wasting an hour each day commuting to the office.

Her dream was to live with her husband on a sailboat for months at time.

But Brandy’s company wouldn’t allow it. So she began to look for ways to make money while working from anywhere.

"CAN YOU REALLY MAKE MONEY AS A VIRTUAL BOOKKEEPER?"

Brandy was already working as a bookkeeper. So she decided to see if other companies would let her do that remotely.

But all the articles she read said virtual bookkeepers only make $10/hour. Meaning she would have to take a massive pay cut from what she was already earning!

Then Brandy discovered she could actually earn much more in that role.

“All the blogs I read said you could only make $10/hour as a bookkeeper. Then I read one of Ben’s posts and he said you could make up to $60/hour. That was exactly what I was looking for.”

After reading Ben’s article, Brandy tore through his free video series on how to launch a virtual bookkeeping business.

Brandy found the information helpful. So a few weeks later, in April 2016, she decided to join Bookkeeper Business Launch.

"LEARNING BOOKKEEPING ISN’T DIFFICULT"

Over the next few months, Brandy used the material inside Bookkeeper Business Launch to sharpen her bookkeeping skills.

This was important because even though she had experience, not all clients do their books the same.

But what was even more helpful was the step-by-step instruction for setting up her business. Brandy didn’t have any experience in that area. So learning how to set up her website and do marketing made life easier.

“It was nice to be told what I needed to accomplish each week”

By August, she was ready to launch. But there was a MASSIVE problem.

"I WAS TERRIFIED OF TALKING TO CLIENTS"

A few years earlier, Brandy tried to start a business as a wedding planner.

On her first client call, she froze. She didn’t know what to say! And wound up not getting the job.

Embarrassed, Brandy closed her business immediately so she wouldn’t have to go through the same thing again.

But this time, things were different.

Because Bookkeeper Business Launch showed Brandy exactly what to say when talking to clients.

It also taught her the value of setting up a support system. And how she could lean on friends, family, and the Bookkeeper Business Launch community anytime she had doubt.

This gave Brandy the confidence to move forward.

“An hour before my very first consult I call up my sister and said:

‘I’m freaking out. I’m nervous, my heart is racing, I’m going to be an epic failure.’

She was at work but took time to help me through it.”

With this support network in place, things began to take off.

"WOW, THIS IS A REAL BUSINESS!"

Following the system inside Bookkeeper Business Launch, Brandy landed her first client 30-days after opening her business.

A month later, she got her second!

Brandy got them using the LinkedIn Client Attraction System taught inside the program.

This process made it easier for Brandy to connect with prospects. It showed her how to warm people up to the idea of hiring her before she ever got on the phone with them.

Here’s how Brandy describes the process:

“Bookkeeper Business Launch taught me how to set up a LinkedIn profile and connect with people in a way that doesn’t turn them off.

I’d search for business owners in my market. Then send them a connection request that says “Hey, I work with people in your industry. I’d like to connect.”

Some people messaged me immediately saying “I need help!” Other times, I would give them advice. Then they come back for more.

You don’t have to do any selling because they already think you’re awesome by the time you get on the phone.”

"I QUIT MY 9-5 AND MOVED ONTO A SAILBOAT"

Brandy’s first two clients lived near her town.

She thought the only reason they picked her was because she was local. And nobody would hire a bookkeeper they couldn’t meet face-to-face.

But the fifth client she got lived several hours away. This proved people would hire her no matter where she lived.

“After getting that fifth client I thought: ‘Wow, this is a real business. You can do this without having to be there. People will trust you even if they’re in different states.”

Less than six months after opening her business, Brandy had five clients paying her $60/hour.

Now she had the financial security to leave her job. And since she knew people would let her work remotely, she had the freedom to live anywhere.

So in February 2017, Brandy fulfilled her dream and moved onto a sailboat with her husband.

The two of them spent the next few months sailing around the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic.

During this time, Brandy chose when she worked, opting for about 20 hours a week.

Despite her easy work schedule, Brandy earned enough from her “tiny business” to support her lifestyle.

“When we went sailing, I didn’t have to be like “No, we can’t eat out.” Because I was making enough money for us to live comfortably.

We got to do things like deep sea fishing — which is surprisingly expensive. If something broke down, we didn’t have to worry or dip into our savings to pay for it.”

"NOW I WANT TO HELP OTHERS LIVE THEIR DREAMS"

After a year at sea, Brandy moved back to America.

But even while she was away, her business continued to grow.

She averaged a new client every month for 18 months. Both from LinkedIn and referrals.

Today, she has a “small business” with 19 clients. Her income continues to grow, but the amount of time she puts in is about the same.

“I should definitely break 6-figures in income this year. But I still like to travel and be flexible. So I’m still going to work just 20-30 hours a week.”

Brandy’s now hiring people so she can scale into a “mini-empire”.

And at the same time, help more people live the life they want.

“Bookkeeper Business Launch allowed me to live my dream. Now I want to help other people live theirs. I want to give them flexibility, good pay, and the chance to work from anywhere.”

"YOU GET FRIENDS AND CHEERLEADERS IN THE BBL COMMUNITY"

Brandy will be the first to admit she couldn’t have done this alone.

Her friends, family, and the Bookkeeper Business Launch community played a huge role in giving her the confidence to make her dreams come true.

“I’d post a question in the Bookkeeper Business Launch Facebook group and get an answer within 20 minutes.”
